Google Software Engineer Brandon Wuest shared, “With more than 15 million installs of Cardboard apps from Google Play, we’re excited to bring VR to even more people around the world.”
Not only that, Google has also updated its Cardboard software development kits for Android and Unity, by throwing into the mix a pair of highly requested changes, namely drift correction and Unity performance. This particular update will see a major overhaul of the sensor fusion algorithms that integrate the signals from the gyroscope and accelerometer, and as these improvements will substantially decrease drift, especially on phones with lower-quality sensors. Sounds like there is much progress made on this front, and we are more than excited to see what developers are able to cobble up with the new software development kit.
