In a Q&A with Resident Evil’s producer Masachika Kawata, this is what he said when asked about Resident Evil 7. “We’re currently not at a state to talk about it… but please stay tuned.” While this suggests that the game is still in development (hopefully), we could be inching closer towards hearing something officially being announced.
When exactly this will take place is anyone’s guess. It is also possible that Capcom is working towards making Resident Evil 7 scarier than its predecessor. According to Kawata, this is something they’re exploring in response to those who claim that Resident Evil is starting to lose its horror touch.
Kawata was quoted as saying, “Since there’s been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I’m thinking about it and also preparing for it.” In the meantime we suppose gamers will just have to contend with the HD remakes of older titles, or check out Umbrella Corps if you’re itching for new content.
