Update – It seems BlackBerry might have accidentally allowed the page to go live because it has since been taken down. Perhaps those reports of a Friday launch might be true after all. Either way check back with us then to see if it pans out.
So earlier we stated that according to advertisements found online, pre-orders for the BlackBerry Priv was expected to kick off on Friday. Turns out that maybe we don’t even have to wait that long because according to new reports and a listing on BlackBerry’s website, the BlackBerry Priv is now available for pre-order for a price of $749.
However as noted on BlackBerry’s website, the handset will only play nicely with AT&T and T-Mobile’s network, so if you are planning to use it with Sprint or Verizon, you would be out of luck. It also mentions that the phone is expected to begin shipping out to customers on the 16th of November.
Along with the price and availability, the listing also reveals the phone’s official specs, which we have to admit is a bit weird that BlackBerry did not choose the launch the phone with more fanfare given how much they have riding on this, but we suppose this is pretty much as official as it gets.
According to the specs, it confirms what we know so far and that is it will come with a 5.4-inch QHD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood. It will be accompanied by 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, an 18MP with OIS, a 2MP front-facing camera, support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0, a 3,410mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be calling the shots.
