When it comes to wireless charging, that is one feature that Apple’s iOS devices do not have at the moment. It is possible that because current wireless technology requires the addition of new hardware components that Apple is passing up the feature since it could interfere with its design.
However it looks like Apple could have figured out a way to make wireless charging easier. According to a recently discovered patent, Apple has suggested making use of hardware found inside its mobile devices. To be more specific, it will rely on electrical coils found inside components like the iPhone’s speakers, microphones, and Taptic Engine, for example.
This will allow Apple to enable wireless charging in its mobile devices without compromising on its design and without having to add new hardware. However we suppose at the end of the day, it will still require the user to place their mobile device on some kind of charging pad in order to charge it.
We have seen Apple patent a variety of ideas pertaining to wireless charging but to date we have yet to see any of them come to fruition. Not to forget, there have been advances in wireless charging technology where it could rely on ultrasound to wirelessly charge devices, thus negating the need for devices to be placed on some kind of special charging pad.
