Sony is yet to confirm if it’s going to cut the PS4’s price for the first time in the United States, the console has already received a price cut in Japan, there have been multiple reports recently pointing towards the possibility of a PS4 price cut. Now a retailer is strongly hinting at this possibility, pointing towards a $50 price cut for the PlayStation 4.
Target thinks that Sony will soon officially announce a price cut PS4, its website shows that the console is “now” available for $349.99 as opposed to the regular retail price of $399.99. The latter has been the console’s price tag in the United States ever since it was first released in November 2013.
As previously mentioned Sony has still not confirmed if it’s indeed going to cut the console’s price ahead of the holiday season where it goes head to head against Xbox One, that recently got a plethora of new features through a software update.
The company did recently cut the console’s price in Japan from ¥39,980 to ¥34,980, it’s roughly $50, so there’s no reason to believe that such a cut won’t be able to work in the United States.
Many believe it’s likely that Sony might make the PS4 price cut official at the Tokyo Game Show which is just around the corner.
