Close to 8 years since the Volt was released, a whole lot has changed – for the better. It will now carry a new 1.5-liter I-4 engine that features direct injection, 12.5:1 compression, exhaust gas recirculation, and cam phasing, letting it run at a maximum of 5600 rpm. This 4-door sedan is not meant for speed despite looking as though it is up to the task, delivering preference for space instead.
It is said to carry an updated lithium-ion formula in its batteries which makes it 20% more efficient than the ones in its predecessor, while being 30 pounds lighter. A single charge can yield 53 pure electric miles, and on a full charge and full tank of gas, expect this new Chevrolet Volt to carry a range of up to 420 miles.
