The series of YotaPhones are interesting devices. This is thanks to the fact that on the back of these phones, there is an e-ink display. This allows the phone to deliver additional notifications and information that will consume less power than the regular display. It also makes for a pretty cool feature too.
Unfortunately the phone has not really been available in many countries. The YotaPhone 2 was originally pegged for a 2015 release in the US, but ultimately due to production delays, it was cancelled. However the good news is that come 2016, the company’s YotaPhone 3 might have better luck.
This is thanks to a recently announced partnership with Chinese smartphone maker ZTE. It seems that ZTE will now be responsible for manufacturing the company’s future handsets. Given that ZTE has successfully made phones for markets all around the world, this partnership could finally kick the YotaPhone’s production into high gear.
Unfortunately there is no word on when the phone will be released, but it has been given a rough timeframe of Q1 2016. Specs of the device have not been mentioned either, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of phone Yota can deliver. Third time’s the charm, right?
