For the longest time ever, we’ve typically relied on keys to unlock the doors to our homes. It’s a pretty straightforward process but given today’s desire for more smarter and connected objects, we’re starting to see more smart locks make their way onto the market. The latest contender comes from Westinghouse.
The company has recently launched an Indiegogo campaign for a smart lock they are calling the Nucli (pronounced “new-klee”). For the most part the Nucli will come with features one might expect from a smart lock. This includes the ability to unlock your door via your thumbprint. There is also a keypad option, and there is also a companion app or a fob, depending on your preference.
There is also a built-in camera so that you can see whoever’s at your door, and it also has the ability for users to leave voice messages, like maybe the delivery person who wants to inform you that they were trying to make a delivery but you weren’t around. It is a pretty feature-rich smart lock and it seems to be quite a hit.
Westinghouse had initially planned to raise $50,000 from its Indiegogo campaign, but so far they have raise over $85,000 and with 16 days to go, we wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers hit $100,000. To learn more or pledge your support, hit up the Nucli’s Indiegogo page for the details, or watch the video above to see it in action.
