Stick PCs aren’t new, many companies have already developed them and are selling them to those who want an inexpensive Windows-powered PC that’s capable of doing basic tasks. The idea is very simple, take all of the components and join them together or a stick that looks quite similar to a flash drive then add an HDMI port and you’re good to go. That’s basically what the Asus VivoStick is.

Asus launched the VivoStick today and it’s not that different from rival products like the Intel Compute Stick, it’s basically a very portable computer that can handle basic tasks while running a full Windows installation.

The VivoStick features an Intel Cherry Trail processor with Intel graphics, 2GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. There are two USB ports, one headphone jack and HDMI for the purpose of hooking up to a TV or monitor. It weighs in at 70 grams and measures 138 x 34 x 15mm. Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi are also present.

Asus VivoStick is capable of running Windows 10, the latest iteration of Microsoft’s operating system, but given its specifications you can’t expect it to do much more than it’s designed to do.

The company has priced this product at $129 but still hasn’t revealed when it will be released and in what markets.
