Verizon has also removed the italics in the lettering as well as getting rid of the “Z” design, opting for a cleaner and simpler design in the process. According to Verizon, “After 15 years, the new visual identity marks the beginning of the next chapter to distinguish Verizon in the minds of consumers and signals our revitalized purpose of delivering the promise of the digital world — simply, reliably and in a way that consumers want.”
The carrier goes on to further explain the design that they have chosen. They claim that the logos new design “reflects an identity that stands for simplicity, honesty and joy in a category rife with confusion, disclaimers and frustration.” They also add that, “It’s a cleaner, more human design and the checkmark, the universal symbol for getting things done, uniquely expresses the reliability of Verizon.”
We have to say that in an industry where its competitors are sport louding and bold logos with bright colors, Verizon’s decision to simplify theirs is an interesting decision. Will this work for them? What do you guys think?
