If you’ve seen the news today then you might have heard that Pope Francis is visiting the United States, he will be attending engagements across multiple cities and his itinerary sees him making a stop in the Big Apple as well. New Yorkers who have been anxiously waiting for their iPhone 6s to arrive should probably start mentally preparing themselves for delivery delays because with the Pontiff in town it’s likely that the shipments won’t be delivered on time.
UPS has already warned that due to the Pope’s trip it won’t be able to deliver packages on time in select ZIP codes, and since his visit happens to coincide with the Friday release of the iPhone 6s, this is going to leave a lot of people wishing that the Pope had chosen slightly different travel plans.
Even Apple has acknowledged that this is going to be an issue. The company is sending out emails to New York residents who have pre-ordered an iPhone 6s and are awaiting a delivery later this week telling them that due to traffic restrictions in New York City on September 25th the delivery may be delayed.
Apple also says in the email that in the event a Friday delivery is not made it will make Saturday deliveries “at most locations.” The company acknowledges that people are waiting to receive their new iPhone and apologizes if someone’s order is affected this Friday.
