Sony 4K TVs Will Get HDR Color Support This Fall

Sony released a handful of 4K TVs this year and some of them cost a pretty penny, if you happen to have purchased any of those models then there’s some good news for you. The company has confirmed that it will be expanding support of its high dynamic range (HDR) color update to include more 4K TV sets. What this means is that by this fall more Sony 4K TV models will receive the HDR color update.

The company has originally released this update only for the X930C and X940C models but now the update is expected to arrive for the X850C, X900C and X910C this fall. Those who own any of these models can expect to see an improvement in highlights and shadows as well as experience more vivid colors and greater contrast once the update has been installed.

The fact remains though that HDR color support won’t be any good if there’s no HDR content to watch and Sony is well aware of this which is why it’s providing customers with an offer to make them embrace HDR on their TVs.

Folks who purchase one of the supported TV sets for a limited time will receive up to $100 in HDR-enabled movies from Sony through Amazon Video, this include the likes of Fury and The Amazing Spider Man 2. Amazon’s original shows will also stream in HDR on the TV sets.
