Boy, this certainly did not take too long at all. Edward Snowden has opened up a Twitter account, and he is currently following only one other account – where that would be none other than the NSA. In the process, Snowden has already amassed more followers than the NSA, now how about that for being popular? It does not matter whether one sees him as a patriot or a traitor, he just claims that he is a citizen with a voice.
Just in case you have recently crawled out from under a rock, Snowden happens to be the former National Security Agency contractor who was behind the leakage of U.S. surveillance programs details, and his very first tweet was “Can you hear me now?” at approximately noon ET Tuesday. Twitter has since verified the account, so this is the real deal here.
In a matter of a couple of hours, Snowden’s Twitter account has racked up over 300,000 followers, now how about that? While he follows the NSA, the NSA did not follow him back immediately. What do you think of Snowden’s appearance on the Twitterverse? Will we be seeing more leaks up ahead, or other interesting items from his side, or will it be all cat pictures from now on?
