Sounds good, right? However now according to a report from Forbes, it looks like Samsung is rumored to be planning something similar as well. They claim that a source has tipped them off to the possibility that Samsung could be announcing their own leasing program in the next several months, although it might be announced sooner for all they know.
Unfortunately it is unclear as to how much Samsung will be charging for their leasing program, or which devices will be compatible. We can only assume that Samsung’s flagships will be part of it, but it is unclear if the rest of Samsung’s lineup will be included, or if it could also include Samsung’s wearables like smartwatches.
This might actually be a good plan since carriers have started to move away from contracts. Instead carriers are asking that customers pay for their devices in full albeit over the course of 24-months, versus contract plans which saw customers pay around $200 for a high-end phone, and be tied to the carrier for the next 2-years.
