It has been estimated that should Samsung keep this up, they wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers quickly escalated to 1 or 2 million in the next month or two. Samsung Pay has already gone live in South Korea and it seems to have been pretty well-received as evidenced by the numbers. However it will be interesting to see how the service will perform in the US.
At the moment there are plenty of mobile payment options in the US. We have the likes of Apple Pay, Android Pay, CurrentC, as well as alternatives such as PayPal, Square, and etc. However given Samsung’s brand, reputation, and the popularity of its Galaxy Android smartphones, we suppose it should give them an advantage.
It is too early to tell how well the service will do in the US upon its launch, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime any Samsung fans out there who plan to use Samsung Pay upon its launch? Or are you still not fully convinced that mobile payments could be the standard of the future?
