Roku 4 With 4K Support Rumored

Roku 3 Review

The race for 4K is on and many set-top box makers are now jumping on the Ultra HD bandwagon, NVIDIA’s Android TV set-top box already has support for 4K while Amazon recently unveiled a new Fire TV that also has support for UHD. Rumor has it that a new Roku is in the works, Roku 4 is rumored to bring 4K support along with upgraded internal tech that’s required for support.

Roku last launched a flagship set-top box back in 2013 so it’s about time that a new one was released, the hardware is good enough but it can’t support 4K content and that’s one of the reasons why the company might look to refresh the set-top box.

Word on the street is that Roku will soon launch a high-end set-top box presumably called Roku 4, this will be the fourth streaming box from the company and will feature new hardware, one that enables 4K video playback which might be billed as one of its biggest features.

The company did say back in January this year that it’s working on a 4K reference defence so it’s not entirely impossible that a 4K compatible Roku might be released at some point.

Roku hasn’t confirmed anything as yet, it can’t be said for sure right now when it intends to launch the Roku 4.
