Earlier this week Konami had warned gamers of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that there was a bug that could potentially corrupt their save files. Unfortunately it seems that there is no fix for the bug just yet, but the silver lining is that Konami has since pinpointed what causes the bug and they have provided workarounds.
When Konami first disclosed the bug, they basically stated that gamers should not use the Quiet character as a buddy in Episodes 29 and 42. However Konami has since reversed course and stated that you can go ahead and use the character, but at the same time if you were to use her with the Butterfly Emblem, your save files should remain intact.
Alternatively, you can lower your Bond level with Quiet and as long as you did not set it to Max level, your save files should be fine as well. No doubt this still places some restrictions on how gamers play the game, but if those are features that you can do without, then it should not impact the way you enjoy the game.
No word on when a patch will be released, but Konami writes, “The team is currently working on a patch to fix the bug and repair any save data affected by the issue. Further updates will be announced soon. In the meantime, we apologize deeply for the problem and thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve the issue.”
