Microsoft developed an entirely new web browser for Windows 10 which was initially known as Project Spartan, later it’s official moniker was revealed to be Microsoft Edge, and it’s already running on the millions of devices that have jumped on the Windows 10 bandwagon. Microsoft continues to work on new features to improve the experience and one new feature for Edge that the company has up its sleeve is tab preview. This feature will be included in the next Windows 10 insider preview build.
This feature was accidentally revealed by Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore earlier this month, he was demonstrating at an event how Cortana can make it easy to perform web searches in Edge when he accidentally showed a thumbnail preview of an open tab.
Belfiore played it off initially by continuing to talk about Cortana but he came around to the feature eventually, saying that “You might have noticed there’s one other thing in the Edge browser that I mistakenly revealed as I was doing this is a small feature we have not shown anyone yet but is coming to our Insider builds really soon and that is this tab preview feature.”
The way it works is quite simple: hover the cursor over the tab to get a preview. Belfiore said Windows Insider program members will receive this feature soon, possibly in the next build, before it’s rolled out to the public.
