We have been hearing for months now that this year Google is going to release two Nexus smartphones, one developed with LG and the other with Huawei. Multiple leaks have come up in recent weeks revealing many details about both handsets but so far Google hasn’t confirmed anything yet. A new report today claims that the company is gearing up to launch the new Nexus smartphones, apparently it’s going to do that on September 29th.
Citing “people familiar with the company’s plans” CNET reports that Google will conduct a press event in San Francisco on September 29th to unveil the new Nexus smartphones. The company has not officially commented on this yet.
LG’s Nexus handset is expected to feature a 5.2 inch 1080p display with a Snapdragon 808 processor whereas Huawei’s handset reportedly has a 5.7 inch Quad HD display and a Snapdragon 810 processor underneath. Both handsets are believed to feature a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Google is yet to confirm the existence of these handsets or to provide a date for this event, but the timeframe does seem right seeing as how the Nexus 6 was unveiled on October 15th last year.
These will certainly be the first devices that ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed so there’s the new software to look forward to as well.
