According to a report from Phandroid, it seems that they have noticed a mysterious countdown timer that has recently made an appearance on Pebble’s website. The countdown appears to be counting down towards the 23rd of September 2015 meaning on that day, we can expect some kind of announcement.
While we’re sure many would love to see a new smartwatch released by Pebble, the folks at Phandroid speculate that we could instead be looking at a software update. It wasn’t too long ago that a substantial update in the form of software version 3.0 made its way onto the newer Pebble Time model.
However Pebble also stated that the update will be making its way onto the original Pebble later this year, and so the speculation is that the countdown will be basically be to the release of the 3.0 software update for the original Pebble watch. Assuming this is true, this is good news for the original owners of the Pebble smartwatch as the update should give your device a new lease on life.
We would definitely love to see a new smartwatch, but given how the Pebble Time only started making its way to customers earlier this year, a refresh might be a bit too early, but either way check back with us on the 23rd of September for the details.
