Having a QHD display does seem to be the norm these days for flagship smartphones, but it does feel as though Meizu is going to take a step back with their next flagship model touted to arrive with a mere 1080p display. This particular interesting bit of information has been made public by Meizu CEO Aber Bai over on Weibo today, where he claims that all Meizu would like to do is to come up with devices which happen to satisfy consumers where the overall experience is concerned, as opposed to keeping up with the Joneses in terms of hardware specifications.
A noble effort indeed, although it might take some getting used to such as idea, as the world has more or less been fed with the mantra that having the latest and the greatest is always better for everyone, and if your specifications are not up to snuff, then you are left behind.
Bai figured out that the current top of the line chipsets have not fully taken advantage of QHD screens efficiently, which is why Meizu will be taking the road less traveled with their future flagship smartphone with a ‘mere’ Full HD display. What do you think of this step – wise or foolish?
