Websites like Twitch and YouTube Gaming are great platforms to watch people livestream their lives and their gaming sessions. This is usually done from the comfort of their own home, but with apps like Meerkat and Periscope, livestreaming has taken to the streets where anyone with a smartphone can livestream their day to their followers.
That being said, it seems that Meerkat has recently received an update to make it more functional. The update now includes the ability to poll your viewers, so for example if there are burning questions you want to ask your viewers, you can now poll them on that. Or maybe you just want to ask them whether you should grab a blueberry or plain bagel.
The update also introduces hashtags, which we suppose is a natural progression. This allows Meerkat users to create hashtags that might be related to what they’re streaming to allow viewers to search based on hashtags. Last but not least, there is also the introduction of a “Show & Tell” feature.
This lets users share photos from their phones, so you can share not just a live video stream of yourself, but also stills from your day or maybe there’s just something cool you want to share with your viewers. The latest version of Meerkat is available for download via the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store.
