Now that Samsung is done with the launch of Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ the rumor mill can now focus on what the company will have in store for us next year. It’s still too soon to be talking about what the Galaxy S7 is going to bring to the table but that hasn’t ever stopped the rumor mill. Word out of Korea is that Samsung is going to build the Galaxy S7 out of magnesium alloy, which would not only add a unique aspect to the smartphone but will also be one of its major selling points, provided that Samsung ever goes down this road.
Rumor has it that prototypes that are already in development are fashioned out of magnesium alloy and have a unibody design, this would make the Galaxy S7 Samsung’s first full-metal flagship smartphone.
Even though the Galaxy S6 has a metal frame there’s glass on the back so it can’t really be called a full-metal device, perhaps Samsung aims to achieve that with the Galaxy S7.
It’s said that Samsung will go with magnesium alloy because it’s going to be light while being durable, weighing 65 percent less than aluminum while being 2.8 times stronger apparently.
This isn’t the first time that magnesium alloy construction has been rumored for a Samsung flagship, we’ve seen this being rumored before as well, so for now take this with a grain of salt. For all we know this might never happen.
