One of the key features of the Lumia 1020 is its camera. The device was released a couple of years ago and it came packed with a massive 41MP camera. This undoubtedly allowed it to compete against some of the best phones around at that time, to which the Lumia 1020 actually held its own and excelled in certain aspects.
However when the Windows 10 Mobile update is rolled out to the Lumia 1020, users might be disappointed. This is because there are quality issues with the build that will not allow the Lumia Camera app to take full advantage of the phone’s 41MP camera. However Microsoft’s Gabe Aul states that the app will be compatible with Windows 10 Mobile, it just won’t be available for download until later this fall.
According to Aul, “To get all your Lumia 1020 camera features back, you need the Lumia Camera app installed on your phone. The easy solution is to wait until the app is available in the Store. If you don’t want to wait, you need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to return to Windows Phone 8.1 in order to get the app back.”
Basically this means that Lumia 1020 users need to keep running Windows Phone 8.1 if they wish to take advantage of the 41MP camera. However if they’re not too fussed, they can still upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile except that their experience might be a bit handicapped.
