We had previously seem smartphone OEMs create handsets designed for selfie lovers. What does this mean? Usually this means that these are smartphones with high resolution front-facing cameras. Sometimes it can also mean that the cameras have wider apertures too to help with low-light situations, and sometimes some even come with a front-facing flash.
However Lenovo seems interested in upping the selfie game in the announcement of the Lenovo Vibe S1. According to the company, this is the first dual camera selfie smartphone where its key features are a pair of 8MP and 2MP front-facing cameras. How does this work? It works similar to the HTC Duo camera setup where the 2MP camera will be used to analyze depth of field information.
This allows the user to readjust their selfies after the photo has been taken by choosing areas that they want to focus on. There are also options to cut yourself out from the photo and be placed on other images that Lenovo has preloaded, so if the background image isn’t to your liking, you’re free to pick something else.
As for the rest of the phone’s specs, the Lenovo Vibe S1 will come with a 64-bit MediaTek octa-core processor. There will be 3GB of RAM accompanying the phone. There will be a 160GB of storage with microSD card support, a 5-inch Full HD display, and will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed. The Vibe S1 will be available come November where it is priced at $299, but unfortunately North America will not be one of the markets it is available in.
