That being said, a recent tweet by Steve Hemmerstoffer (also known as @OnLeaks) has revealed photos showing off the alleged SoCo, which you can see in the photo above. It’s not the best quality photo but the A9 wording can clearly be seen. Then again we suppose it wouldn’t take much to photoshop that image, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
So far what we know about the rumored A9 processor is that it could be built on the 16nm process instead of the 20nm process used for the A8 last year. For the layman this probably doesn’t mean much, but ultimately it should allow the processor to be even faster than before due to the reduced distance between transistors.
This means that despite the A9 rumored to be a dual-core processor, versus the quad- and octa-core processors found in Android phones, it will still be powerful enough to get the job done. We expect that Apple will share the details on the 9th of September so do check back with us then to find out more.
