Apple has shaken up its iPad lineup quite a bit today, you won’t be pleased if you were waiting for an iPad Air 3 because Apple didn’t announce one day. Instead the company unveiled the much rumored iPad Pro which also happens to be the biggest, most capable and most powerful tablet the company has ever created. The company did refresh iPad mini though, it’s called the iPad mini 4 and it starts at $399.
No radical changes have been made to the iPad mini 4 and Apple didn’t spend much time talking about it, what it did say is that the tablet is basically a smaller iPad Air 2.
All of the specifications and features of iPad Air 2 have been tucked inside the smaller shell of iPad mini 4 which weighs 0.65 pounds, this tablet replaces iPad mini 3 in the company’s lineup and is available in multiple storage options with Wi-Fi only and cellular models starting at $399.
iPad Pro is now the flagship tablet in Apple’s lineup. It has a brand new processor which is 1.8x faster than the iPad Air 2, it offers much better graphics performance, as well as a high resolution 12.9 inch display. iPad Pro also supports new accessories which include a Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil: the first stylus ever for iPad.
iPad lineup now starts with the iPad mini 2 at $269 followed by iPad mini 4 at $399. iPad Air and iPad Air 2 will continue to be sold starting at $399 and $499 respectively. iPad Pro tops off the lineup, coming in at $799.
