HTC-Butterfly-3_11So yesterday HTC announced the HTC Butterfly 3. This is basically a rebranded version of the HTC J Butterfly that was exclusive to the Japanese market, and according to yesterday’s reports, it was suggested that the HTC Butterfly 3 might just be the international variant that will roll out to other markets.

Turns out that is not the case. According to a tweet by HTC’s Jeff Gordon, it seems that the HTC Butterfly 3 will only be available in Taiwan, and the J Butterfly will continue to remain a Japan-only exclusive. Gordon wrote, “I don’t know where this news cycle started that HTC announced Butterfly 3 for global distribution. It’s only announced for Japan and Taiwan.”

So there you have it, if you were hoping to get your hands on the device, you would be out of luck. You could try importing it via grey markets but with so many options available out there, we’re sure that you could find something similar locally. No word if the handset will ever make its way out of Taiwan and Japan, but based on Gordon’s tweet it seems unlikely that will be happening.

It’s a pity considering that it does feature some pretty decent specs, like a 5.2-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 20.2MP camera with OIS, a 13MP front-facing selfie camera, and a 2,700mAh battery.
