According to the game’s developers IO Interactive, the game has now been delayed to March 2016. According to them, the reason for the delay is because they’re trying to pack in as much content as possible for its initial release. “We’re going for a new release model where we put out a good chunk of the game when it begins and then release the remaining locations over time.”
They also add, “These few extra months will mean we can add more to the launch content of the game, more than we had originally planned, and then follow with a tighter frequency of updates, which ultimately will create a better game for everyone.” The good news is that unlike games with paid DLCs, this additional content will be free of charge.
This affirms what IO Interactive said before where they would not have anything like season passes. According to them at that time, “There are other products that sell a game for $60 and then try to sell you a Season Pass for another $40 on top, so you spend $100 or $120 for all the stuff that happens later on. We said no, we don’t want to do that.”
