Due to the increased use of smartphones, we have seen a bevy of cases designed for smartphones. Some of these cases are designed to look stylish, some designed to protect, and some designed to provide pure novelty. However it would seem that over in Amsterdam, one passenger thought it would be a good idea to bring an iPhone in a gun-shaped case on board.
The end result? Not very well because according to reports, it seems that authorities were forced to close all but one terminal gate at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Many passengers were stranded and it seems that many were also left in the dark as to what was going on, but they were ultimately all allowed to board after each and every one of them went through a second security check.
Now we have to admit that while we are fans of novelty cases, there is certainly a time and place for everything. Trying to be clever and bring a gun-shaped case on board an airline is definitely not a good idea. In fact a couple of months ago, police in the US warned smartphone owners of a similar case.
Let’s not forget, back in 2012, there was a hijacking scare due to a mix-up between the pilot and traffic control. This saw two Dutch F-16 fighter jets being scrambled to intercept the flight, only to have security forces find out that all of this was due to a misunderstanding. Basically security is not meant to be a joke, and thankfully no one was hurt in the process.
