GoPro cameras and drones seem like a match made in heaven that’s why many drones are capable of hooking up with an action camera, but if this is so popular why doesn’t GoPro start building its own drones? This proposition makes sense to the company as well, it has been confirmed today by GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman that the company is indeed developing its own drone.

Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt SF Woodman confirmed that “development is on track for the first half of 2016. We have some differentiations that are right in the GoPro alley.”

However Woodman didn’t reveal precisely what the company’s first drone will be able to do, what it will look like and how much it will cost.

That’s information that many of us are naturally interested in, to see whether or not the drone will be able to compete against the DJI Phantoms of the world. We’ll have to wait for a considerable amount of time to find that out it seems, with development said to be on track for the first half of 2016, we might not get this information before next year.

Woodman was also asked about the sales of GoPro action cameras, he said that they’re going well, but could be better if the GoPros weren’t so darn durable.
