If you’ve always thought that the ads displayed before YouTube videos were sometimes a bit irrelevant and annoying, that could soon change. According to a post by Google, it seems that the company is planning on introducing shopping ads into its videos. What this means is that these ads will be more relevant to you.
So for example if you were to go to YouTube to look for reviews on the GoPro HERO4 Black, YouTube will recognize that and might deliver an ad that will let you buy the camera. At least that way the ad you are viewing makes sense to you, as opposed to just some random ad that you can’t wait to skip over.
As you can see in the image above, clicking the “i” button will pull up some shopping options for you. No doubt this will provide YouTube and subsequently Google with a new source of revenue, but at the same time it also tries to make advertisements more relevant and useful for users, making it less likely that they will skip over them.
That being if at the end of the day you still find ads annoying, fret not because you can just ignore the “i” in the upper right hand corner of the screen and not click it.
