Apple Maps has seen its fair share of improvements ever since it rolled out, but I would suppose that most folks still prefer to fall back on Google Maps in a heartbeat. Apple Watch owners who would like their timepiece to help them navigate used to rely only on Apple Maps, but Google Maps on iOS has been updated that will now boast of full Apple Watch support, bringing along with it other useful features to boot.
Booting up Google Maps on the Apple Watch will result in either choosing between going home or to the office, based on your Google account settings. It does not look as though the full map can be displayed, and a force press on the screen will let you opt between driving, walking, and transit directions. Not only that, you are able to tap quickly to pick up directions to recent places, and should you add in a new route on your handset, it will appear on your Apple Watch so that you can navigate in a more convenient manner.
Apparently, the update will also see changes on the handset, with a new and improved navigational element that lets one swap between walking, driving, and transit directions while showing you the ETA at a glance. Any takers for the new Google Maps for iOS?
