Heard of Geely before? Probably not, but they are an entity not to be trifled with by virtue of them being China’s largest private carmaker. In a country where the population has long exceeded a billion people, not to mention having a fast growing middle class that have plenty of disposable income to spare, you can be sure that Geely is not going to go out of business anytime soon. The big news concerning Geely today would be their support for Apple’s CarPlay.
The agreement between the two companies have already been inked, where Geely will integrate CarPlay into an upcoming compact SUV model. This would make Geely the first Chinese automaker that supports the infotainment system from Cupertino. Very little information is available concerning the mysterious SUV from Geely, although it is tipped for an unveiling some time later this year.
Other vehicle manufacturers that have taken up CarPlay compatibility in their rides include Honda and Volkswagen, so it is no surprise at all to see Geely follow suit as this will definitely build up their reputation and portfolio, not to mention making it easier for the company to make headways into foreign markets in the future with a resume that is forward looking.
