Whether or not that is true remains to be seen and we guess we will find out later today at Apple’s announcement. In the meantime in an interview with CNBC, 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman suggested that the Force Touch display could pave the way to a future in which we could see iPhones without the home button.
However it should be noted that this is only Gurman’s speculation and it is in no way a rumor. It is an interesting speculation and in the past, many have wondered when would Apple get rid of the home button. There is the question as to what will become of Touch ID should the home button be removed.
Previously it was suggested that Qualcomm’s Sense ID feature could be the answer, where fingerprints can be read from underneath a screen. That being said, chances are the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will continue to retain the home button, but who knows, maybe 2016’s iPhone 7 will be a game changer, but what say you?
