The HTC Vive was introduced earlier this year during MWC 2015. While virtual reality is seen largely as a tool for gaming, it has plenty of other uses. One of the examples of its potential use can be seen in the video above. It features long-time Disney animator Glen Keane who uses the HTC Vive to draw in virtual reality.
For those unfamiliar, Keane is the animator behind some of Disney’s classic movies such as Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, and more. During the video, Keane expressed how virtual reality pretty much eliminated the constraints he feels when drawing on paper, with virtual reality allowing him to draw life-sized models and being able to view it from all sorts of angles.
It’s truly a magical experience to watch him draw and create a character in virtual reality with a few deft strokes of the controls. Like we said, this just goes on to highlight some of the potential uses of virtual reality technology, which at the moment seems to be headed towards being the next big thing in tech.
Unfortunately for HTC Vive hopefuls out there, chances of you getting your hands on a HTC Vive headset will probably only happen in 2016. The company expects that mass rollout of the headset will only begin next year, so until then we suppose you will just have to contend with these videos.
