Current generation consoles such as the Sony PS4 as well as the Xbox One have been around for a couple of years already, and they still continue to get top and A-list titles without missing a beat, such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, although the older generation of consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3 too, have received such versions of the game. This can be said for the Call of Duty franchise, too. However, in a recent Call of Duty community blog post, things do not look so rosy for the last-gen versions of the game, as it will not arrive with a single-player campaign. Bummer!
The blog post did mention, “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player co-op Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will include multiplayer and “Zombies” mode, but no campaign.”
In other words, the older consoles do not have the necessary muscle to run all of the bells and whistles that are available on the current generation consoles, but at least it does come with a bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. [Press Release]
