Stickers are a fun way to spice up your text messages. They’re like emojis but bigger, and in some instances animated as well. We’ve seen apps such as Facebook Messenger, LINE, KakaoTalk, introduce stickers, and it wasn’t too long ago that BBM introduced stickers as well. However it looks like BlackBerry wants to try and monetize it by creating some kind of subscription plan.
According to reports, it has been noticed that in the BBM Shop, there is a “Subscribe” option. However clicking it doesn’t do anything and it just tells users that they will need a higher version of BBM to use it. This seems to indicate that the feature will probably be arriving in the next update to the app.
That being said according to its description it reads, “Become a BBM Sticker Club member today and take advantage of over 100 stickers that you can use now plus the many sticker packs.” Like we said this sounds like BlackBerry could be planning a subscription-based sticker service in the future, where maybe a monthly fee will give you access to new stickers every month or something like that.
Unfortunately this is just speculation on our part for now, but as we pointed out, this will probably be revealed in the next version of BBM, whenever that will be. Last we heard, the stickers for BBM on iOS have been selling pretty well so perhaps BlackBerry is taking this to be a sign that they should step things up, but what say you? Is a sticker pack subscription for BBM something you might be interested in?
