So far from what we can tell, Apple’s new iPhones have proven to be a hit again. The company has managed to sell out their stock of pre-order units, as well as launch day units via their online store. That being said, stock is expected to be available via the company’s retail stores so the question is, how many iPhones could Apple potentially move over the weekend?
According to the numbers offered by Foursquare, it has been estimated that Apple could easily move as many as 15 million units over the course of the weekend alone. Assuming this is the case, it would be a huge increase of about 30-50% over last year’s iPhones, continuing the trend of Apple selling more phones than before with every release.
At the same time, there are some analysts who are concerned that Pope Francis’ visit to New York could have an impact on iPhone sales. As it stands, iPhone 6s deliveries in New York are said to have been delayed because of the visit, but the extent of the Pope’s visit on actual sales figures have yet to be revealed.
While the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus might look like its predecessor, the changes to the hardware and introduction of 3D Touch has been rather compelling. So far reviews of the device have been largely positive so it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple had another hit on their hands.
