One of the reasons why voice assistant features like Siri, Google Now, or Cortana are so useful is because it lets us interact with our devices and its contents without having to touch our phones. The same can be said for the Amazon Echo, which for those unfamiliar is a voice assistant in the shape and design of a speaker.
That being said if you’re someone who is extremely busy but would love to stay on top of things, you’re in luck because Amazon has recently issued an update to the Amazon Echo. With this update, the Echo can now read to you the top news headlines, so if you want quick bite-sized pieces of news before you start your day, this ought to do the trick.
However it won’t read you the entire story, just the headlines, but like we said it should be good enough to give you an idea of what’s going on. If you wanted to read more, then you’d have to do so manually but at least you can get the latest topics read out to you while you get yourself ready for work.
This update follows another update that Amazon released last month which allowed users to playback music and audiobooks from multiple accounts. The latest update will also introduce more control over alarms and timers along with the ability to read the top news headlines, so you’ll want to get your hands on it if this sounds like useful features you’d like to have.
