samsung-logoThe Samsung Galaxy S7 has been pegged for a release in 2016. According to early rumors, it seems that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is being considered for use in the phone. Now thanks to additional details from SamMobile, it seems that we have learnt more about the phone, at least this early on in the game.

For starters Samsung has given the handset the codename “Project Lucky”, presumably after the number 7 which many have deemed to be lucky. Their report goes on to claim that in addition to the Snapdragon 820, Samsung is also testing the use of an Exynos 8890 chipset, but at this point it is unclear as to which chipset Samsung will ultimately go with.

There is also talk about the possibility of SD cards making a comeback to the phone. However this particular feature is also said to be in testing as the memory controller on SD cards and the rumor used of UFS 2.0 storage are said to be incompatible with each other. The report goes on to claim that we can also look forward to a 20MP ISOCELL camera.

There is even mention of a special all lens cover project, which presumably has to do with giving the phone a special case for additional lens attachments. There was no mention of display size or resolution from SamMobile, but last we heard it could come in 5.2-inch and 5.8-inch options and that they could sport 4K resolutions. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but this specs are some of the earliest ones we’ve heard so far.
