The thing with keeping up with technology is that unless you have a lot of money to keep buying new gadgets, whatever you purchase today will easily be overtaken by something else a few months from now. This is especially true when it comes to computers, and unless you keep up with the news, you could easily buy a laptop only to have it upgraded with new specs the week later.
Thankfully Alienware appears to be aware of the situation and has announced (via Engadget) that they will be giving some of their more recent customers a free laptop upgrade. Basically Alienware has promised that if you had bought one of the company’s latest laptops, which launched a couple of weeks ago, and a new processor has been added to the Alienware lineup within 30 days, you’ll be eligible for a free upgrade.
Basically this sounds like Alienware is hedging on the fact that Intel’s Skylake processors will make its way into their laptops by the end of the month. If you did buy one of their laptops, this means you will get the upgrade for free and will be future-proofed for a while. Or at the very least you won’t be running a prev-gen processor from Intel.
Given how expensive Alienware’s laptops can get, this is actually a pretty good deal. This deal only applies to the new Alienware 13 R2, Alienware 15 R2, and Alienware 17 R3 that have been bought between the 27th of August 2015 to the 28th of September 2015.
