So when will this ad-free YouTube launch? According to a report from Re/code, it has been suggested that based on an email sent from YouTube to content owners that this ad-free version could be launched in late October. The email reportedly tells content owners that they need to agree to YouTube’s new terms by October 22 or their videos will no longer be publicly listed.
This seems to suggest that the service could be launched around then. Pricing of the service has yet to be determined but last we heard, YouTube was thinking about a $10 a month subscription. Re/code goes on to add that this ad-free YouTube will also include YouTube Music Key, although last we heard it was suggested that it could be rebranded to YouTube Red.
However it is possible that YouTube Red could be the name of the ad-free YouTube, but since nothing is official yet we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime Google has an event planned for the 29th of September where presumably the new Nexus handsets will be launched, but who knows, we could hear some updates about YouTube then as well.
