Nintendo launched their Amiibo figurines last year and surprisingly they have sold very well. In fact according to a report from VentureBeat that cites a report from The NPD Group, it seems that Nintendo has reportedly managed to sell a whopping 7 million Amiibo figurines to date, and this is just based on its US sales since November of 2014.
The company is also expected to launch its next wave of Amiibo figurines tomorrow so we can only imagine that those numbers will keep rising. Earlier this year it was proven that the Amiibos are in high demand as Nintendo had trouble keeping its inventory stocked, which ultimately led to delays for some customers.
It also helps that Nintendo revealed that some Amiibos were a limited run, meaning that once they were sold out the company had no plans of producing them again, thus increasing its collectibility. Based on the initial success of the Amiibo, analysts last year had predicted that the sales of the toys itself could easily nab the company a whopping $1 billion in revenue.
It is unclear as to how much Nintendo has made to date from the total sales of its Amiibo toys, but based on this 7 million sales figure in the US alone, we reckon they are doing pretty well for themselves.
