It sounds pretty nifty but it also raised an important question – would 3D Touch work if users were to use a screen protector on their phones? As it turns out, it will. This is according to a report from 3D Techtronics who apparently emailed Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller asking about any potential issues.
Schiller reportedly replied by saying that as long as the screen protectors follow Apple’s guidelines, they will work with 3D Touch. Now this might seem a bit silly, but it is a valid concern. There are some screen protectors made from tempered glass that are much thicker than your regular screen protector.
With the thickness, we’re sure some are wondering if the pressure can be translated and detected by the 3D Touch sensors, but like Schiller said, if they have followed Apple’s guidelines on screen overlays, you guys should be good to go.
