The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is expected to be a beast in terms of performance. The company had previously boasted that it would be twice as powerful and efficient than its predecessor which is saying a lot. This is why even the layman might feel excited about the Soc’s launch in 2016.
That being said, if you’re looking forward to Snapdragon 820 smartphones, you will have a bevy to choose from. The company has recently revealed that there are about 30 smartphones currently in testing that is based on the Snapdragon 820. This is based on a report out of China that seemingly quotes Qualcomm’s President Frank Meng.
Of course it is possible that not all 30 smartphones will go with the Snapdragon 820. It is possible that there might be more than 30 as well if the chip is able to deliver what it promises. As it stands the rumors are claiming that Samsung is expected to use the Snapdragon 820 for the Galaxy S7, or at the very least is one of the companies testing the chipset.
Another rumor points towards the rumored HTC O2, and Chinese company LeTV has already begun teasing their Snapdragon 820 smartphone. Either way it will be interesting to see if the Snapdragon 820 will be powerful enough where it will be able to cover the Snapdragon 810’s reported overheating mishaps in 2015.
