The Sony Xperia Z3v was launched last year but it looks like it could have been discontinued by Verizon. This is according to a report from Xperia Blog who claims that according to several readers who got in touch with Verizon, the carrier has apparently confirmed that the device has since been discontinued.
Trying to search for it on Verizon’s website also yields no results, suggesting that the carrier has indeed stopped selling the device, although maybe there is a chance you could still get it in a physical Verizon retail outlet. That being said, this might also be good news as it would seem to suggest that the carrier could be making way for the Xperia Z4v.
The handset was announced in early June but to date has yet to make an appearance. It is said to be launched on the 13th of August so we guess we won’t have to wait much longer, especially if you’re in the market for a new handset. For those who are hearing about this for the first time, the Xperia Z4v is basically a better specced version of the Xperia Z4.
For the most part the handset will remain the same, such as sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM. However it will come with a 5.2-inch QHD display which is an upgrade over the Xperia Z3+/Z4’s Full HD display. There are some slight changes Sony has made to the handset’s design as well, but other than that it does look like a worthy successor to the Xperia Z3v.
