Verizon Releases Stagefright Fix For Select Samsung Galaxy Devices

It is nice to know that not too long after Google rolled out a patch for the Stagefright vulnerability that has made quite plenty of waves in the world of Android-powered devices recently as a serious security flaw, major carriers have also worked hard to ensure that this update would hit the different devices that they offer to the masses. Sprint was the first major carrier in the US to deliver the Stagefright fix, followed by AT&T. Well, Verizon has finally introduced the Stagefright fix for the following devices – the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Note 4.

Out of the lot, the Galaxy Note Edge was the first to receive this update, and it looks like the previous generation Galaxy S5 as well as the Galaxy Note 4 too, are on the receiving end at this moment. However, one remains bewildered as to why this update has yet to be released where the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge are concerned, taking into consideration how those are the current flagship models from the South Korean conglomerate.

Just to recap, the Stagefright vulnerability in Android enables hackers to access a targeted device through the simple act of sending an MMS message that contains a video within, and this MMS would carry malicious code within.
