According to a rumor last week, it was suggested that the Moto X Play will actually be arriving stateside despite what Motorola claimed. However as per the rumor, the device would not be known as the Moto X Play, but instead it will be known as the DROID Maxx 2 and it will most likely be an exclusive to Verizon.
If you’re looking for more proof of this, the folks at Hellmotohk have posted a bunch of new photos that allegedly shows off the back cover belonging to the handset. Given that the Moto X Play is available via Moto Maker meaning that it can be customized, we suppose it doesn’t come as a surprise that the DROID Maxx 2 is customizable as well.
As you can see in the photos, it also shows off Verizon’s logo that has been emblazoned onto its back, but we suppose anyone with decent photoshop skills could have easily recreated that, so it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now. Now in terms of specs, we’re not sure what the DROID Maxx 2 could be packing.
However there is a good chance it will remain exactly the same as the Moto X Play, which means we can expect a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 21MP/5MP camera combo, and Android 5.1 Lollipop. Hopefully Motorola/Verizon will have the details soon so check back with us later for more updates.
