However according to a report from BuzzFeed, it looks like Twitter is trying to sort that out. The company has recently introduced an experimental News tab in its Twitter app for mobile devices. It should be noted that this is an experiment and not everyone might be privy to it, but basically as you can see in the screenshot above, it helps sort out your feed.
Instead of displaying everything and anything from the people that you are following, the separate News tab appears to sort feeds that might be considered as news from Twitter accounts such as The New York Times, USA Today, ABC News, and so on. According to Twitter, “We’re experimenting with a news experience on iOS and Android as we continue to explore new ways to surface the best content to users.”
This should be a welcome feature for users who want to rely on Twitter mostly for news, but as BuzzFeed points out, this is also a great way for Twitter to potentially generate ad revenue as inserting ads in between news might not be as disruptive compared to the regular feed which feels more conversational at times, but what say you? Yay or nay on the feature?
